DR (MRS) OLUWATOSIN DOKPESI

Born in Lagos, Nigeria on 12th July, 1969 to Prince Kola and Mrs. Carolyn Odukoya, Dr. (Mrs) Oluwatosin Abimbola Dokpesi, fondly called Tosin completed her primary education in 1981 and proceeded to the Holy Child College, Obalende- Lagos where she obtained her General Certificate of Education.

The well respected and charming Tosin first trained as a scientist, obtaining the Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology from the prestigious University of Lagos. She returned to her alma mater where she obtained a Post Graduate Diploma Degree in Mass Communication and bagged a Diploma in Television Management from the Institute of Television Practitioners Association of Nigeria (ITPAN) to solidify the foundation for her successful career in broadcasting which became her new found love after her graduate studies.

She also holds a Diploma in Television Broadcasting from the United States Telecommunication Training Institute (USTTI), USA.

Her journey as a broadcaster started as a television presenter with the Multimedia International Limited, from where she moved to the Clapper Board Television as a presenter and programme producer. She joined the services of DAAR Communications PLC in 1996 and worked with RayPower FM as a radio presenter and newscaster before she returned to television in 1997 to become one of the pioneer presenters of the famous weekday current affairs programme, KAKAAKI, on Africa Independent Television (AIT).

Her love and passion for broadcasting, her hard work, sincerity and dedication saw her rise through the ranks in the television services of the media conglomerate.

In 2000, Oluwatosin Abimbola Dokpesi rose to the position of Assistant General Manager, Programmes and became the Deputy General Manager Programmes in 2003. She was elevated one year after to head Domestic and International Operations of AIT. With her managerial ability, consistency, motivation, she was in 2008 appointed the Managing Director of AIT, Nigeria’s first satellite and private television network broadcaster.

A professional per excellence with over 20years experience, Oluwatosin Abimbola Dokpesi is a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), member of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and associate member of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Advertising Practitioners’ Council of Nigeria (APCON).

The celebrated media executive and broadcaster is a philanthropist and recipient of several merit and honorary awards including the Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Public Communications from the Wisconsin University USA for her exceptional contributions to the broadcast industry. She was also honored with the Citizens Image Special Recognition Award as the Great Woman of the 21st Century in Broadcasting in Nigeria and the prestigious award of the Coalition of Wives of Presidents and Vice Presidents in Africa for Peace, in recognition of her immeasurable achievements, exceptional contributions and persistent efforts in ensuring girl-child education, the attainment of peace and respect for human life and dignity. She was equally honored with the Nigeria Goodwill Ambassador Awards as a positive contributor to humanity, COWAP Media Champion Awards and many more.

Oluwatosin, meaning God is worthy to be worshipped, surely has every reason to praise God and no wonder she is a woman of faith.

Widely travelled, Tosin loves to sing and cook. She is happily married to High Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi, who holds the national honor of Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR), Their union is blessed with a daughter – Catherine Anuoluwapo Dokpesi.
